The celebration of "Quinceañera" is a religious celebration in which a teenager turning 15 years of age, gives thanks to God for the years already lived. This celebration acknowledges that the adolescent is already beginning to pass into adulthood. In the ceremony the teenager is also asked to personally renew her baptismal promises.
The following are expected of the candidate: A - Interview with a priest to discuss the meaning of this ceremony. She must realize that it is her responsibility to grow spiritually in her relationship with God, the Church and the world around her. B - Must be prepared to go to a preparation program. Other persons as Sponsors and Chaperons participating in the ceremony should join this program. C - To understand the meaning of the liturgical celebration as a call to grow in faith and commitment to the Gospel and assist in the preparation of the liturgy of the Quinceañera. PRE-REQUISITES FOR PARTICIPATION 1. The participant should have received the sacrament of Confirmation or is preparing for the reception of the sacrament. 2. The participant (or family) should be registered members of a parish. 3. Please allow for a minimum of four months to prepare this event. Please note that we do not celebrate these festive occasions during Lent. 4. The donation for use of the Church is $200.00 or more. Other: ■ Absolutely no rice, flower petals or confetti thrown in the Church, or outside. No tape is allowed on the pews or the floor. We suggest you use rubber bands. ■ We ask that you kindly be on time for the ceremony. ■ If the teenager feels ready to do some reading, she may do it. ■ The Quinceañera and her court will participate in a retreat day or session preparation, using the occasion to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. THE ROLE OF THE FAMILY 1. Share their culture and faith tradition by giving witness to the value of life and family. 2. Renew with the Quinceañera their Christian faith professed at Baptism. 3. Invite friends and other community members to join in giving thanks to God that the Lord will protect and guide you in life. |
La celebración de "Quinceañeras" es una celebrción religiosa en la que una jóven al cumplir los 15 años de edad, da gracias a Dios por los años ya vividos. Por esta celebración de los 15 años se le pide a la joven que renueve personalmente las promesas bautismales.
Lo siguiente es lo que se espera de la candidata: A - Entrevista con un sacerdote para dialogar sobre el significado de esta ceremonia. Que comprenda que ya es su responsabilidad el ir creciendo espiritual mente en su relación con Dios, la Iglesia y el mundo que la rodea. B - Estar dispuesta a ir a unprograma de preparación. Otras personas como Padrinos y Chaperones que participen en la ceremonia deben unirse a este programa. C - Entender el significado de la celebración litúrgica como un llamado a crecer en fe y compromiso con el Evangelio y a colaborar en la preparación d ela liturgia de los 15 años. PRE-REQUISITOS PARA PARTICIPAR 1. La participante debe haber recibido el sacramento de Confirmación o estar preparándose para recibir este sacramento. 2. La aplicante (o su familia) deben ser miembros inscritos en una parroquia. 3. Tenga en cuenta un mínimo de cuatro meses para preparar este evento. Por favor, noten que, no se celebran estas fiestas durante la Cuaresma. 4. La donación para el uso de la iglesia es de $200.00 o más. Otros: ■ Absolutamente no se permite echar arroz, pétalos de flores dentro o fuera de la Iglesia. No usar cinta adhesiva en los bancos ni en el piso. ■ Les pedimos sean puntuales a la ceremonia. ■ Si la quinceañera se siente preparada hacer alguna lectura, puede ofrecerse para ello. ■ La quinceañera y su corte deberán participar en un día de retiro o una sesión de preparación, aprovechando la ocasión para recibir el Sacramento de Reconciliación. PARTICIPACION DE LA FAMILIA 1. Compartir su cultura y tradición de fe, dando testimonio de los valores familiares. 2. Renovar con la quinceañera la fe cristiana recibida en el Bautismo. 3. Invitar a amistades y otros miembros de la comunidad a que se unan a dar gracias a Dios para que el Señor los proteja y los guíe en su vida. |
